NOVA
Nova are a well established family owned company and have a reputation for a strong focus on design and quality.
The Nova range supplied by Classiclawns comprises Cast Aluminium, FSC Hardwood, Resin Weave and Galvanised Steel.
Cast Aluminium
Distinctive and elegant, Nova cast aluminium furniture features a range of styles catering for all tastes from traditional designs which have evolved from the cast iron artistry of the 18th century to contemporary classics created by Nova’s designers.
The manufacture of Nova cast aluminium furniture is complex and requires great skill at all stages. Production in the company's own foundry commences with the casting of recycled molten aluminium alloy at approximately 700°C. The finished components are coated in a polymer based UV protected outdoor grade electrostatic powder spray finish and baked at 180° C. Each piece is inspected before the furniture is flat packed and labelled ready for shipment. All products are very easy to assemble.
Aluminium will not rust and all the nuts, bolts and washers are in stainless steel. The furniture is completely rust-free and virtually requires no maintenance. An occasional light application of car wax is beneficial. Any break or abrasion on the paint surface should be touched in immediately with a suitable paint for outdoor use - Nova supply a touch-up paint range.
All the cast aluminium paint finishes have been salt spray tested to the highest industry standards. However, as with any paint finish, exposure in a salty atmosphere could affect the paint finish depending on local conditions.
Nova offer a 10 year guarantee on cast aluminium parts endorsing their commitment to quality:
- on structural defects from faulty materials or workmanship, excluding paint or other finishes
- where used for domestic purposes
- applies in the UK, Channel Islands and Eire
TIMBER
100% of the timber products in the 2009 Nova range are now FSC certified. FSC is the most widely recognised wood labelling scheme and is endorsed by all the major environmental charities including WWF, Friends of the Earth, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust. Trees are replenished and regenerated with consideration for the forest’s indigenous people, local communities, wildlife and the world in which we live. The FSC tracks timber from forest to distribution so customers can buy in confidence.
Storing wooden garden furniture under an open lean-to or elsewhere under cover will reduce the effect of pollution and prolong life. All timbers expand and contract with fluctuations of temperature and humidity which may cause surface cracking particularly on the end grain, due to the natural living character of the wood and there can also be expansion and contraction of the timbers and joints. This will not affect the durability or strength.
Teak
Lasting a lifetime, and virtually maintenance free, teak is truly the ‘king’ of timbers. One of the world’s most valuable woods, endowed by nature with rich natural oils which protect this strong close-grained hardwood and allow it to weather beautifully. Little wonder that it is the preferred timber for park benches and ocean liner decks.
Teak is a very durable hardwood naturally resistant to change in atmospheric conditions. Colour variations can occur within the timber, but these will equalize when exposed to sunlight. Without treatment teak will change colour leaving a pleasant silver-grey finish. If you prefer the natural tone of the teak then a periodic light application of good quality teak oil will help preserve the colour.
Hardwood
The Nova hardwood range has a warmth and individuality all of its own and is the natural choice for versatile and practical garden furniture. It is pre-treated with an oil based water repellent wood preservative, which enhances the natural beauty of the timber while providing further protection.
To ensure longer life a further application of teak sealer may be necessary once or twice a year depending on weathering. Please note that a solvent based preservative is not recommended unless the original oil has been totally cleaned off. Before applying any further preservative or oil to your furniture please ensure that the surface of the wood is dry and free from dust and dirt. Clean the furniture with a diluted solution of soapy water using a non-metallic scourer. Remember to rinse down and allow the wood to dry naturally.
Resin Weave
The indoor/outdoor resin weave Siena range provides the good looks of wicker, using hard wearing rainproof triple twist resin weave on strong tubular aluminium.
